A Sad Day For Madge Fans...
After months and months of rumors and blah blah blah...
Just months after Madonna and Guy denied that her marriage was on the rocks, the singer's spokesperson since the beginning of time Liz Rosenberg confirmed this morning that the pop star and hubby Guy Ritchie will divorce after seven and a half years together.
It's a sad day.
I actually never believed any of the rumors. Or maybe I didn't want to. Regardless. It's sad. I always thought they were a great couple... As far as Hollywood couples go.
I have been so caught up in everything and nothing all at once. Things go by you so fast and you miss what is going on around you... I don't know how. Time is confusing. It's overwhelming.
A friend of mine recently lost her mother. I haven't spoken to her. But she is in my thoughts. She is in my prayers. Especially right now at this moment. Those moments that catch you when no one is watching.
To D... The sun has gone down. The night is beautiful. I hope you dream tonight.
It's no secret that I love Grey's Anatomy. I am totally excited for the Season 5 premiere on Thursday night.
This summer I spent some extra time re-watching the entire series right from the very first episode. (BTW... Did I mention I love TV on DVD) So since I have it all fresh in my head I thought I would let you in on my fave 10 moments from Grey's Anatomy... So far... Seriously.
#10. Introducing Addison (Season 1) Just as Meredith and Derek finally come together, a bombshell is dropped at the end of the final episode of season 1 which reveals that Addison Shepherd has come back to meet her husband, Derek. The last words of the season are: "So, you're the woman who's been screwing my husband?"
#9. Cristina Reacts To The Harper Avery Award (Season 4) Cristina is called to see the Chief and talks about Burke saying that she helped performed his surgeries for him when he had hand tremors, but there is no mention her in the newspaper article about Burke winning the Harper Avery Award. She was his hand, but is now a ghost.
#8. Meredith “Dies”... Derek Freaks... Ellis Dies... Meredith Lives (Season 3) On the scene of a boat crash Meredith falls in the water and does little to save herself. Derek does save her and the docs feverishly attempt to save her. Meredith slips away and meets memorable characters from the past including: Denny, Dylan, Doc (Meredith and Derek's dog), Ellis' scrub nurse and the young woman who was impaled on the metal pole. Back at the hospital Derek yells at Ellis and she goes into cardiac arrest. Stuck between life and death, Meredith looks up to see her mother who tells her she's anything but ordinary which prompts her to run towards the light and regain consciousness. Remembering her brush with the afterlife, she asks if her mother is dead. But she already knows.
#7. Susan Dies (Season 3) After months of Susan trying to convince Meredith they can be family, Thatcher brings Susan into the hospital to see Meredith because she has a persistent case of the hiccups. Susan dies due to complications from her surgery, which leaves Thatcher destroyed. Instead of the embrace they should have shared as Meredith tells him the news, he slaps her in the face.
#6. Meredith and Derek Finally! (Season 4) Season 4 ended on an annoying note for some and a high note for others. I am a total Mer-Der fan so it was all good for me. After 4 years of back and forth Derek finds Meredith on his land where he planned to build their house, muttering to herself about how stupid what she's doing is. She had outlined their house with candles, and yells at him for taking so long to show up when she is now “whole and healed”. He interrupts her mid-rant by kissing her, and pulls away. He tells her to stay and wait while he goes and talk to Rose.
#5. Burke Leaves Cristina At The Alter (Season 3) It's no secret the writers of Grey's had to write out Isaiah Washington's character after the actor was let go from the show. And while I totally agree with the decision I will admit the show is missing something without him. Burke left in pure drama, dumping Cristina at the chapel minutes before their vows. Cut to Burke's apartment with Cristina's breakdown with Meredith as she pulls off her wedding dress, screaming, "I'm free!"
#4. Meredith And The Bomb In The Body (Season 2) Christina Ricci guest starred as the paramedic who put her hand inside the chest of a patient to stop him from bleeding. Turns out after trying to make a homemade bazooka, the patient has unexploded munitions inside of him and the hospital is placed on Code Black. After a freak out session the paramedic runs and Meredith ends up with her hand inside the patient. The highlight of the 2 part episode is when Meredith finally removes the explosive from the patient and passes it off to Dylan (bomb squad dude) and he leaves the room. The bomb explodes, killing Dylan. Meredith, who followed Dylan out into the hall, is knocked unconscious by the explosion.
#3. Izzie Convinces Denny To Let Her Cut The LVAT Wire (Season 2) When the heart intended for Denny doesn't prove to be viable, Burke fights a losing battle for a second heart. Izzie decides to take matters into her own hands. The scene with Izzie begging and crying trying to convince Denny to let her cut the LVAT wire to fake the tests and secure the heart is truly gut-wrenching. She begs him telling him if he doesn't let her do this she will never forgive him for making her fall in love with him. The episode ends with Izzie cutting the LVAT wire believing that Burke was on the way... What she didn't know was Burke had been shot outside of the hospital.
#2. The Cinderella Story (Season 4) A clinical trial patient, Greta, requests that Derek and Meredith push back her surgery so that she can wait for her boyfriend, Andre, to arrive. Greta's sister tells the doctors that the bf is a figment of Greta's imagination as no one has ever seen him. More doubts come when Greta's recount of her meeting with Andre is similar to the story of Cinderella. Meredith wants to perform the surgery immediately, but Derek insists on waiting and letting her enjoy the fantasy a little longer. However, Andre does not show and Greta is devastated that Andre is not real. Another gut-wrenching moment... During the surgery, Andre arrives. Greta doesn't survive the surgery and she dies believing that Andre never existed.
#1. Denny Dies... (Season 2) Of course my fave moment on Grey's are those last moments of Season 2. While the “prom” is going on downstairs Denny waits for Izzie. It looks like love will come out on top until Denny closes his eyes while Izzie is still making her way to the room. Bailey tells the Chief that Denny died and word gets around quickly. The interns hurry to Denny's room to find a shocked Izzie, clinging to Denny's body. She tells her friends she thinks he died of an unexpected blood clot, and that she was late because she had changed her dress 3 times wanting to look perfect. Alex emerges out the shadows and picks up a crying Izzie taking her away from Denny's body. The episode ends (with Chasing Cars playing in the background) as the interns listen as Izzie confesses to the Chief that she was the one who cut the LVAD wire. They look on as she quits the program, claiming that she cannot be a surgeon.

Here's the infamous scene that every Grey's fan loves...
I have been reminded over and over again by friends near and far that I haven't updated my blog in a while.
I don't think I realized it had been this long...
I've been meaning to. It's one of those things that is at the back of my mind... There just never seems to be enough time these days. The past few months have been a whirlwind. I can't even really figure out what took up so much of my time. But… That’s the way life goes I guess.
Life has just been busy. A little too busy with little time to stop and watch the world around me.
That's my fave thing to do. I am making a promise to myself to do it more. To write more. To be more creative. To dream more. To sit still more.
That last one will be a little hard for me because I seem to have this thing that I am always working. Even when I am watching TV I am working on my laptop.
All of my many projects have been going well and everything continues on. There are a few changes I want to make and get into… But time will make way for them.
The site is amazing. The column is awesome. Of course that other project has its ups and downs.
The house is great. We have been working on it non-stop. This of course is the never ending story of home ownership. Nevertheless we have made a deal to stop working on the house for awhile and just sit back and relax and enjoy it. I think that’s one thing we really haven’t made time for these last few months.
Antonio turned 30 and we had a party at the house with many of his friends. It went really well and I think everyone had a great time. Strangely the party fell exactly one year after my friend Michael passed away. Antonio made a little thank you speech mid-way through the night and brought it up. It was a nice moment and I was very proud of him for speaking so eloquently.
It's fall now. I can't believe it. I can’t believe how the time has flown by this year. We've been in the house for over a year now. Unbelievable.
Well. It’s been a long time since I sat down to type. A really long time. I can’t believe how the weeks have literally flown by. I literally have half a dozen blog posts that I have started in the last few weeks and never finished. All sitting there. Most of them are so passé… I mean what’s the point in posting my thoughts on the SATC movie now… It’s practically time for it to come out on DVD. LOL I guess... A lot has been going on.
We continue to work on the house. I am exhausted saying that… Even though I will probably be saying it for the rest of my life. The shutters are late. We had hoped for them to be installed and done by the beginning of June. (I was actually hoping for the last week in May) I hope it’s not that much longer. I feel like we have been waiting for them forever. The only positive side of this is that it has given us some extra time to get things ready. Antonio, for the most part, has been re-painting all of the window frames so the white will be the exact shade of white that we choose for the shutters. Fun things like that. There’s been other jobs with the house here and there... But they all seem to sound the same after awhile. LOL.
As for work… Well… Work has been great and keeping me as busy as always. So much going on and so many positive opportunities and changes happening every week. Far too much to endlessly type out. I am just happy that everything is so on-track.
I guess the Summer has been good so far. We were out and about on Pride weekend hanging out with some friends and I have decided I need to slow down a bit. Spend some time with friends and enjoy what’s left of the summer...
With the finale of Desperate Housewives and Grey’s Anatomy last week... I realized something. There is nothing left on TV... That I actually watch and like! What's a boy to do?
Really at the end of the day I only follow a few shows:
Grey's Anatomy: I absolutely love it. I have never followed any medical drama but I do love Meridith and the whole gang. This actually is my favorite show on TV by far right now and each season I love it even more. Hell, I actually subscribe to the iTunes podcast each week where the writers discuss the episodes.
Desperate Housewives: Yup. I still love it even though many have given up on it. Although I am a little worried about this time shifting business that is going to happen in the fall. I am still going to tune in.
Prison Break: This is another one people gave up after the first season. To be honest I actually loved the Season 2 on the run. Season 3 was hit and miss for me but I am excited to see what happens in the fall... And how in the world they explain how Sarah is actually alive. Wasn't her head in a box?
Nip/Tuck: Antonio and I both LOVE Nip/Tuck. But this one is the most difficult to follow because it appears and disappears from Canadian television non-stop. Thank god we got on the download bandwagon with this one this year and downloaded the episodes the day after they aired in the states each week. Totally over-the-top! Love it!
That's it. 4 shows. I just can’t commit to anything else. Of course some people would argue that 4 is more than enough. But whatever. Even if it is I still think I don't actually watch that much TV. And even when I am watching TV I usually have my lap top and am working away.
My point is there is nothing left now. For when you want to just throw something on and be distracted. I need to find a summer show!
I haven't written in awhile. Not because I didn't have anything too say. Actually it has probably been the opposite. I have had a lot to say in the last couple of weeks. More so than usual. But I didn’t post. I guess it's just one of those things. Busy and running around. So many thoughts in my head to type down and then never the time to sign in and type.
A lot happened in the last couple weeks. Work has been crazy and busy, more work on the house, I became a god parent, Antonio and I went to Cuba with his family... The list goes on. But there was a lot of worthy blog material. It seems kinda silly now to go back and re-hash. I should have taken better notes while everything was happening. LOL. But back to my point. There has been a lot going on…
The list is never-ending. Or at least it seems that way sometimes.
But...
I am pre-occupied today. My head is in a million different places and my heart is very heavy. I am having a bad day. I suppose my typing now was my own little way to escape from the day. If even for a few minutes. At least I escaped. LOL. I just read my horoscope. It basically summed it up. Who knew that the Metro had such insight into my daily life.
Well kind of. I am actually taking a course at the Royal Ontario Museum for the next month on French Film. I was actually a film major in school. (Both at Ryerson and at U of T where I did a double major in Film and English)
Anyways, ROMLife is offering a course called Springtime in Paris that runs through May which is being taught by my favorite Professor from when I was at U of T. When I realized he was going to be giving the lectures I signed up and paid up.
I had a really good time. My professor immediately recognized me after all these years and came right over to me. We chatted for a bit and I filled him in on what has been going on. The first week's screening was of the film Le Million (1931) by Rene Clair. It was fascinating. Of course Professor Tolton's lecture both before and after the film was the highlight of the night. He is still an amazing speaker. Able to captivate the entire audience in just seconds.
Of course I had pre-ordered it on iTunes so I was listening to it right away. (We’ll not mention the leaked tracks on the internet I have been listening to for the last week or two)
As most people know. Even though I am a massive Madonna fan I did not really have high hopes for this album. I am just a little over the whole "Timberland produced my album" jive that has been going on for the past 2 years. What hasn't he had his hands all over?
Listening to it today on repeat the direction is totally urban. There's no denying that one. And it will do well. I think it has a lot of general appeal. I am sure it will get a little more radio play than many of her last tracks. Thankfully there are still some classic Madonna pop under-tones. The album as a whole is better than I was expecting. It's not my fave Madonna album nor will it ever be. There's nothing here as gloriously fizzy as any of Madonna's hits.
Stand out tracks this morning: 4 Minutes (Featuring Justin Timberlake) Heartbeat Miles Away Beat Goes On (Featuring Kanye West) Devil Wouldn't Recognize You Voices
So so tracks: Candy Shop Give It 2 Me She's Not Me
The others: Dance 2night Spanish Lesson
Worst track on the album… Incredible. (In 3 words... I hate it)
Of course there are clips of interviews posted all across the Internet today. Every news and entertainment station around the world. Madonna debuted her documentary film I Am Because We Are at the 7th annual Tribeca Film Festival last night.
I have two predictions... Madonna's film I Am Because We Are will be nominated for an Academy Award next year... Best Documentary. And my other prediction is she will win.
The trailer for I Am Because We Are:
The title of the film is from Desmond Tutu’s words. "Ubuntu" which is an idea present in African spirituality that says "I am because we are" - or we are all connected, we cannot be ourselves without community, health and faith are always lived out among others, an individual's well being is caught up in the well being of others...
It's not like I am living in a war torn country or something. But the house is a disaster. I know this because I have a couch sitting on my kitchen counter. I am going to go out on a limb here and assume anyone reading this blog does not have a couch sitting on their kitchen counter.
Our little reno adventure is dragging on and it's exhausting. I can't even explain it. The living room floors wrapped up at the end of last week and as of pretty much today the floors are finally ready to have the furniture moved back on them. Only problem there is Antonio and I are doing both staircases, etc by ourselves and well... We are not done. It is more than time consuming.
We're almost there though. I think. Well at least that's what I keep telling myself.
Realistically my goal is to have the living room back together by Saturday and all of the little jobs we have planned after that done by June. That way we can just enjoy the summer.
Then I probably want nothing to do with any renos ever again. LOL.
Last week was the debut week for my new MSN column. And I have to say it was a lot of fun. One of the most amusing parts about this whole experience is the user feedback. Apparently... It looks like we pissed some Avril Lavigne fans off. You wouldn't believe the comment that didn't get posted. LOL.
Apparently I am hated by Avril Lavigne fans everywhere.
LOVE IT.
So now it is time for Week #2. It was a great week for style winners. The week we complement a few ladies looking pretty in pink and a couple of stunners in green.
